The Vision
Roman Šedina exists at the radical intersection of fine craftsmanship and contemporary conceptual art. He treats porcelain and clay not as decorative vessels, but as autonomous architectural monuments shaped by pressure, extreme heat, and controlled destruction.

The Lineage
His path is deeply rooted in the historic ceramic tradition of Bechyně, the oldest ceramic educational institution in Bohemia. His artistic philosophy was fundamentally sharpened through personal dialogues and masterclasses with Japanese kiln builder Masakazu Kusakabe and Satoshi Nishikawa, professor of industrial and craft design at Musashino Art University.

The Philosophy
Driven by the essence of wabi-sabi and the raw laws of 1180°C, Šedina celebrates the tension between structural perfection and the beauty of imperfection. His objects bear their fractures, wrinkles, and distortions proudly—challenging the boundaries of applied arts and traditional heritage.

The Validation
Certified by major institutions of contemporary design. His work is embedded into the permanent collections and archives of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, the Moravian Gallery in Brno, and the Museum of Fine Arts Liberec. He is featured in the prestigious Homo Faber guide by the Michelangelo Foundation as one of Europe's living treasures. Multiple nominee for the Czech Grand Design Awards and the Designblok Awards, recognizing both his avant-garde product design and monumental space installations (2016, 2017, 2019, 2021).
